HI, I am Cheshire born and bred now living in Australia. This blog is just me paying tribute to those men of the Cheshire Regiment who paid the ultimate sacrifice. I will be showing the information available from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission web site (www.cwgc.org ) for WW1 and WW2, plus anything else I find or think is interesting. Rather than just listing the information I’d like to put in some kind of context; for example, tomorrow (16/11/1915) Private Ashcroft, why were 1^st Battalion near the Somme, 7 ½ months before the place became forever synonymous with suffering and loss. I intend to increase the scope to post 1945 conflict and peace keeping operations, give it time.
